Three suspected members of a five-man armed robbery gang who allegedly robbed one Ezekiel Inije at gunpoint along Coca-Cola area, Asejire, Ibadan, have been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, February 25, gave the names of the suspects as Chigbo Mesoma, aged 24; Erondu Wisdom, 29 years old; and Okechukwu Emmanuel, aged 25.
The PPRO said that arrest, made by the Monitoring Unit of the Command on the order of the Commissioner of Police Femi Haruna, followed timely information received from members of the public.
Thenewsbearer learnt that the armed robbery syndicate members were successfully tracked to Oko area of Ogbomoso where three of them were nabbed.
Ayanlade stated that the goods stolen by the suspects and valued at over ₦31 million were also recovered along with other items.
The recovered items include one Howo Long vehicle with Lagos registration number AAA 724 YJ, loaded with Two Thousand (2,000) bags of Karma Agric Chicken Feeds, one cutlass, and one additional set of Lagos State vehicle number plate with registration number LSR 339 XW.
CP Haruna, who praised the efforts of the Monitoring Unit operatives for their swift response, professionalism, and dedication, which led to the success, also appreciated members of the public whose timely and credible intelligence made the operation possible.
Stressing the value of community cooperation in the fight against crime, the police boss directed that no stone should be left unturned in ensuring that the remaining members of the syndicate are apprehended and prosecuted.
