Adamawa State Police Command has commenced investigation into the alleged unlawful arrest and extortions of innocent victims, mostly Fulanis, at Song Cattle Market by members of vigilante groups.
Thenewsbearer learnt that the story of the arrest and extortion had been circulating in the media.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, it was said that the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, reaffirmed the command’s commitment and readiness to wipe out corrupt practices, describing as unlawful and unacceptable.
The PPRO stated: “The Commissioner of Police, in the interest of peace and well-being of the people of Adamawa State which remain paramount, any act that threatens the peace of the public will be dealt with in accordance with law.
“In view of the above, the Command calls on members of the public particularly victim(s) or those that are aware of such allegations to come forward and aid investigation.
“The Command calls on the public to remain calm and cooperate fully with the investigators, as the Adamawa State Police Command remains dedicated to ensuring justice and maintaining peace.”
