THE police have recorded significant breakthroughs in its efforts to combat internal security threats, including kidnapping, arms trafficking, and counterfeiting.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement made available to newsmen, said the operations demonstrated the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing in dismantling criminal networks and curbing insecurity.
Adejobi said in Katsina State, operatives rescued a four-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped along with her 14-year-old sister.
Investigations revealed that the older sister had staged the kidnapping and conspired with three accomplices, aged 25, 19, and 16, all of whom were arrested.
“The older sister resurfaced four months after the alleged kidnapping and confessed to staging the incident,” ACP Adejobi said. The four-year-old victim was found unhurt.”
In a separate operation in Nasarawa State, police recovered an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 45 rounds of live ammunition from an abandoned motorcycle.
The police spokesperson said efforts were already underway to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
In Jigawa State, a joint operation led to the arrest of seven suspected fraudsters involved in a network of financial crimes.
The police recovered $46,100 in counterfeit US dollars, four POS machines, 13 Android smartphones, 29 keypad phones, six power banks, and various documents suspected to be linked to electronic fraud.
“These operations demonstrate our commitment to combating all forms of criminality,” ACP Adejobi said, urging the public to remain vigilant and cooperative.
He quoted the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, as commending the officers involved in the operations and reiterated the NPF’s resolve to secure communities and ensure a safer Nigeria.
