Ten victims abducted from Kaya Village, in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, were rescued on Monday, March 29, 2021, by the state police command.
Thenewsbearer learnt that a kidnap gang stormed the village in the early hours of Monday, abducting the 10 victims.
The victims, comprising of seven women and three men, were taken to Sububu forest by their abductors.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu, said in a statement that the Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, had collaborated with the state Peace and Reconciliation Committee to secure an unconditional release of the victims.
The PPRO said that the victims were later released, as a result of the ongoing peace process by Governor Mohammed Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State.
“All the rescued kidnapped victims have been debriefed by the police and later handed over to the sole administrator of Maradun Local Government Area, hale and hearty, who will reunite them with their families.
“Investigation regarding the abduction of the victims has commenced, and the outcome will be made public,” SP Shehu stated.
