A move by suspected kidnappers to whisk away a victim was scuttled by police operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugu-Ukwu, in Anambra State Police Command, in the evening of Saturday, May 17, while they recovered the victim’s vehicle at Isuaniocha.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed this in a statement on Sunday, May 18.
Thenewsbearer had gathered that the five-member kidnap gang, which operated in a black colour Toyota Corolla car, blocked the victim at Amatu Village, Agulu, and abducted him, taking with them his black Lexus 350 SUV before the police were alerted.
The PPRO said that the operatives, in a technology-driven manhunt for the criminals, caused the abandonment of the victim and the vehicle on the road at Isuaniocha, after which they fled.
SP Ikenga said, “The victim has been debriefed and in safe custody.
“To this end, the operatives are currently working on the necessary information available to dislodge the kidnap gang, and have stepped up security surveillance in the area for possible arrest of the suspects and to nip in the bud any untoward situation.”
