•As Supervising AIG Sues For Peace
Rivers State Police Command has invited a member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Ephraim Nwuzi, over comments regarded as inciting as found in a trending video.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, made this known in a statement on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
In the video, Hon. Nwuzi called out for the shooting of two, three people from a particular tribe.
In the video, he said: “This is four years. They’ve been paying all the Igbo from the council. That’s what he will do now but it will not work. All we’ll do, let’s crack two, three of them. Let’s shoot them… We will shoot two, three Igbo (spoke in local dialect), the rest will run.”
Condemning the video in its totality, the supervising Assistant Inspector-General of Police for the elections, AIG Abutu Yaro, has invited the Honourable for questioning on the content of the video to ascertain the intent and purposes of the lawmaker.
“AIG Abutu Yaro has assured INEC officials, INEC Ad Hoc staff, NYSC members, foreign and local observers, and voters, and all other stakeholders in the elections of adequate security before, during, and after the general election.
“He urges all contestants and political parties to exercise caution and called on the Rivers State residents to call the police at the following emergency numbers to report all suspicious activities and persons during the course of the elections,” the statement read.
