The Rotary Club of Oluyole Estate, Ibadan, has announced that it invested about N11 million in roofing its clubhouse as part of efforts to strengthen the club’s infrastructure and enhance its capacity for community service.

The outgoing President of the club, Rotarian Gbola Olayiwola, disclosed this while delivering his handover speech during the investiture of Rotarian Kehinde Omolara Adeoye as the club’s 20th President and third female president for the 2026/2027 Rotary year.

Olayiwola described the clubhouse roofing project as one of the club’s most significant achievements during his tenure, noting that it would serve as a lasting legacy for members and future generations.

According to him, the project was made possible through the contributions of members and past leaders, including Past Presidents Abiola Genesys Adedigba and Engr. Tola Akinola, who laid the foundation for the project, and Rotarian Moriam Fadeyi-Lawal, who supervised the roofing work.

“Our clubhouse is more than a building; it is a symbol of our commitment to fellowship, planning and service. We look forward to completing the installation of doors and windows and hosting our next investiture in our own facility,” he said.

Reviewing the club’s activities during the year, Olayiwola said members actively participated in Rotary International’s Polio Eradication Campaign and other district projects aimed at improving lives in communities.

He added that the club recorded strong participation at the last District Conference, with 14 members in attendance, while also strengthening youth development initiatives.

The outgoing president commended Past President Tola Akinola for sponsoring 10 youths to the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) programme at a cost of N500,000, describing the gesture as a demonstration of Rotary’s commitment to nurturing future leaders.

On membership growth, Olayiwola disclosed that the club admitted five new members during the year without losing any existing member, a development he said reflected the club’s resilience and attractiveness to professionals.

He thanked members, board directors and committee chairpersons for their support throughout his tenure and urged them to extend the same cooperation to the incoming administration.

Taking over the leadership of the club, Adeoye pledged to uphold Rotary’s ideals and lead initiatives that would create lasting impact in communities.

She expressed gratitude to members for entrusting her with the responsibility of leading the club and promised to work closely with her team to advance humanitarian projects and strengthen membership growth.

“In line with this year’s Rotary theme, ‘Create Lasting Impact,’ we will focus on service initiatives that address community needs while strengthening and growing our membership,” she said.

Adeoye stressed that effective leadership thrives on teamwork and called on members to actively support the club’s programmes through participation, material contributions and financial support.

She said the club had already identified key projects and service initiatives across Rotary’s Areas of Focus and the Seven Avenues of Service, adding that collective effort would be required to achieve the desired impact.

The new president also pledged to discharge her duties in accordance with the constitution and bylaws of the club and in the spirit of Rotary International’s ideals of integrity, dedication and service above self.

The investiture ceremony attracted Rotary district leaders, past presidents, Rotaractors, friends of Rotary and other distinguished guests who gathered to celebrate the leadership transition and the club’s achievements.
