A suspected kidnapper, simply identified as Ahmadu, who was arrested by the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) on Friday, January 20, 2022, has confessed that the five-man gang he belonged to had planned to collect N4 million as ransom from the family of their victim.
The suspect was arrested following a distress call received by the So-Safe Corps Patrol Team, that a cattle rearer, identified as Oseni, was kidnapped at Olorunda-Lukosi, Iro, Owode-Egba Local Government Area on Thursday, January 19 at about 10pm while he was with his cows.

Director of Information and Public Relations, Moruf Yusuf, an Assistant Commander, said that the kidnappers immediately dispossessed their victim of N130,000 he had with him and the documents of his motorcycle.
The state Commander of the So-Safe Corps, Dr Soji Ganzallo Ganzallo, who spoke through the PRO, after the N4 million demanded by the suspected kidnappers, the victim’s family agreed to pay the said ransom, but the timely response of the Corps’ Patrol Team led to the rescue of the victim and arrest of two of the kidnappers, while others escaped despite the intensive combing of the location.
Ahmadu, aged 20, was said to be from Sharagi area of Karaoke, while the second suspect, who was later apprehended, was identified as Sarafa Asimiyu, aged 25, from Ode-Aje, Ibadan, and resident in Amusa Yusuf’s house.
In his confession during interrogation, Ahmadu said that they were invited by one Abu to kidnap the victim. “We were five in number but four others have fled. We were to collect N4 million as ransom,” he disclosed.
Ganzallo said that the suspects and the rescued victim had been handed over to the police at Iro Post of Ogun State Police Command.
