Operatives of Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) on Wednesday February 15, 2023, apprehended a robbery suspect who is on the wanted list in Republic of Benin.
In a press statement signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Moruf Yusuf, the state Commander of the So-Safe Corps, Dr Soji Ganzallo said that with the good security relationship the Corps has with the Republic of Benin, it was alerted few weeks ago to assist in apprehending a robbery suspect who escaped arrest and was suspected to be hibernating in Nigeria, while the kingpin of the gang was in their custody.
Ganzallo said that the robbery suspect, Mr Mishodi Awiagin, was sighted on his foot from far distance in Ayetoro in Ipokia Local Government Area by the Ipokia Area Command team on routine patrol led by the Area Commander, ACC Yusuf Aliu.
He stated that the suspect took to his heels when he sighted operatives of the So-Safe Corps, but was given a hot chase.
Ganzallo, in the statement, revealed that the suspect was captured alive without any injury, while during preliminary investigation, he confessed to being a native doctor by profession in the country and that he truly fled Republic of Benin to escape being arrested for his involvement in a number of serious crimes.
The commander said that the suspect had been transferred to Sakete Police, Republic of Benin, for further investigation and likely prosecution.
