Suspected cultists who allegedly killed Terungwa Ikon Albert in Makurdi, Benue State on April 13, 2022, have opened up on how the dastardly act was committed at the bank of River Benue.
Police detectives from Operation Zenda Joint Task Force in Benue State Police Command arrested the suspected cultists recently, Thenewsbearer learnt.

Confirming the arrest in a statement on Tuesday, June 7, the command’s spokeswoman, SP Catherine Anene, gave the names of the arrested suspects as Victor Ahambe, Peter Adura, Roland Saaior, Aseer Saondo,
Kohol Mathew and
Gbooloko Vihilun.
The suspects, who confessed to being members of the same secret cult and their participation in the killing of the victim at the bank of River Benue, said that it was masterminded by their leader popularly known as ‘Doggy.’
In their confession, they revealed that on the fateful day, they were drinking in a beer parlour at Terguma street, Northbank, Makurdi, when ‘Doggy’ came with Terungwa and bought him a drink, before ordering them to the river bank.
Speaking further, they said that at the river bank, ‘Doggy’ dispossessed Terungwa of his belongings, brought out a pistol from his pocket and shot him in the head.
Other members were said have been part of the murder as contributed to the killing by cutting the victim with a cutlass, with the corpse thereafter dropped in the river to float.
It will be recalled that on April 13, the deceased, of behind Okiki Hotel, Makurdi, was reported missing by his father.
SP Anene said that when detectives got the report, they promptly began a prompt investigation to unravel the mystery behind the victim’s disappearance, until they got a breakthrough.
The PPRO stated: “Investigation is ongoing to arrest suspects at large and other cult members, especially ‘Doggy.’”
In his comment on the arrest of the suspects, the state Commissioner of Police, Wale Abass praised the efforts of the detectives while he enjoined members of the public with information about the said ‘Doggy’ to contact the command for necessary action.
