A yet-to-be-identified kidnap suspect was neutralised by police operatives in Kwara State Command while five others were arrested.
The five arrested suspects were identified as Ibrahim Muazu (30 years old), Hashimu Salisu (25), Aminu Alaka (25), Aminu Temino (20) and Zakariyau Suleiman (20).
The Kwara Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, who confirmed this on Tuesday, February 27, disclosed that a gang of suspected kidnappers carried out a brazen attack on the camp of Alhaji Taofio Fulani in Alo Village, Ifelodun Local Government Area at about 12:30am on Saturday, February 24.
She stated that three persons were abducted and taken to an unknown destination during the attack, while two others, Saidu Soliu and Soliu Abass, sustained injuries when shot for resisting abduction.
The PPRO said: “Swift response by police operatives and vigilantes resulted in a coordinated search operation in the surrounding bush.
“As a result, one Babangida Soliu narrowly escaped from the kidnappers, while two victims, Halimat Umaru and Husseinat Isiaka, both aged 20, were successfully rescued unharmed. They have since been re-united with their families.”
She continued: “In further pursuit of the kidnappers and the ensuing gun duel, one of the perpetrators, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, was neutralized.
“Additionally, two victims, Saidu Soliu and Soliu Abass, sustained serious injuries when shot by the abductors while resisting being kidnapped. They were promptly taken to the hospital for medical treatment, and one of them has been discharged.

“Subsequently, five suspects were apprehended in connection with the incident. They are identified as Ibrahim Muazu (30 years old), Asimu Salisu (25 years old), Aminu Alaka (25 years old), Aminu Temino (20 years old) and Zakariyau Suleiman (20 years old).”
“Items recovered from the suspects include:
*Two fabricated locally-made guns.
*Twelve 7.62mm AK47 live ammunition.
*Eight expended 7.62mm AK47 ammunition.
*One empty magazine.
*One cutlass and several plugs.”
The spokeswoman added that the case is currently under investigation, and that the Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, had assured the public that every effort was being made to ensure the perpetrators face the full wrath of the law.
