Police in Ogun State Command have arrested two men for allegedly taking turns to gang-rape a 14-year-old girl (name withheld).
They were identified as Michael Hammed Azeez (20) and Adeola Ogunseye (22).
The two suspects were nabbed on Wednesday, November 4, at Owode Egba, in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the arrest was made after the mother of the victim reported to the police at Owode Egba Division that her daughter was abducted by the two suspects on November 3, at about 8:30 pm, and taken to an unknown place.
The victim’s mother had stated further that the victim was later found seriously battered on school road in the community, after, as she learnt, the two suspects had taken turns to forcefully have carnal knowledge of her.
Oyeyemi said that this made the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Mathew Ediae to lead detectives to the area, where the two suspects were identified by the victim and apprehended.
The PPRO said: “The house of the suspects were subsequently searched and the torn underwear of the victim was recovered.
“The victim was quickly taken to Owode Egba General Hospital for medical treatment.”
Oyeyemi added that the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
