Two suspected armed robbers who allegedly attacked residents of Abagana end of Nimo junction, in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, have been arrested by the police.
The arrest was made on Saturday, October 31, 2020.
The suspects were identified as Ocha Chinonso (23) of Mgbuke Village, Umunachi and Chidubem Emmanuel (22), of Umusiome Nkpor.
Weapons and other incriminating items were said to have been recovered from them.
In a statement issued and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed, it was said that there was a distress call that suspected robbers armed with dangerous weapons were operating at Abagana end of Nimo junction.
“Following the distress call, police operatives attached to Abagana division, in conjunction with local vigilance group from Umudunu village, responded and rushed to the scene.
“As a result,two suspects, identified as Ocha Chinonso and Chidubem Emmanuel, were arrested.
“Exhibits recovered in their possession include two pump-action guns,a short double-barrel gun,three cartridges and a tricycle,” the police image-maker stated.
SP Mohammed said that the case was under investigation, after which suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.
