Two suspected kidnappers who had been on the wanted list of Adamawa State Police Command were on Sunday, March 10, arrested by operatives in collaboration with hunters.
They had reportedly kidnapped Saddam Ahmadu of Belel in Maiha Local Government and Buba Adamu of Shani Local Government Area, Borno State, and collected N4.7 million as ransom from the relatives of the victims before they regained freedom.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Monday, March 11, gave the names of the suspects as Ahmed Muhammad, aged 37 and resident in Song Local Government Area, and 25-year-old Muhammed Haruna, residing at Jambutu, Yola North Local Government Area.
The PPRO stated that the suspects were arrested in their hideout, with one AK-47 rifle and 25 rounds of live ammunition recovered from them.
The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, who was elated with the arrest, commended the Command’s Crack Squad and the hunters for the community policing strategy adopted which led to the successes recorded,urging them to sustain the tempo.
The Commissioner of Police assured that diligent investigation would be carried out, to be followed with the prosecution of the suspects.
