Two murder suspects, Chiemerie Anieke and Godwin Nnabuike Nwokporo were on Wednesday , March 18, arraigned in court by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the Anambra State Police Command, for their alleged involvement in the murder of one Ikechukwu Simon Nwite, who was Anieke’s employer, and the subsequent theft of his funds.
They were arraigned before the High Court, Onitsha.
The principal suspect, Anieke, aged 21, was accused of using a pestle to strike his employer on the head, resulting in his death, while he was also linked to an attack on one Ogechukwu Nwite at Fegge, Onitsha.
The second accused person, Nwokporo, also 21 years old, was accused of aiding the crime committed by providing a bank account through which over N8 million belonging to the deceased was fraudulently transferred.
Thenewsbearer learnt that the Command’s operatives recovered N6 million from the suspects, which was part of the stolen funds and had been tendered as exhibit in the ongoing court proceedings.
The suspects were remanded at the Correctional Centre pending further proceedings in the matter.
The Anambra Police Command, in a statement by its spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, reiterated its commitment to ensuring that justice is served.
It warned individuals against engaging in criminal activities, as the long arm of the law would always catch up with the recalcitrant ones.
