Two suspected kidnappers, identified as Sadiq Ali (19) and Shitu Umar (23), have been arrested by Adamawa State Police Command in connection with the abduction of a four-year-old child, Ramadan, in Numan Local Government Area of the state.
Thenewsbearer learnt that the kidnapping, which occurred on Sunday, March 1, was reported on Monday, March 2, at Numan police station by the victim’s father, Umar Ibrahim, of Ngballang, Numan Local Government Area.
In a statement confirming the arrest of the suspects, the Command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said the boy’s father told the police of how his four-year-old son went out to play but did not return home, while all efforts by the family to locate the child initially proved unsuccessful.
However, some days later, the father said that he received a call from an unknown number informing him that his son had been kidnapped and demanded a ransom of ₦800,000 before he would be released.
The PPRO stated that following the report, a diligent investigation by operatives of the Command attached to Numan Division led to the arrest of the two suspects, both from Lafiya in Lamurde Local Government Area, in connection with the crime.
“During interrogation, the suspects voluntarily confessed committing the organised crime,” Nguroje stated further.
He said that the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit has been directed to take over the case for discreet investigation and further necessary action.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.
