The government of Oyo State has approved the organisation of #Vibing December, otherwise known as #Faaji December, a month-long celebration in different forms to mark the end of 2025 and usher in 2026.
This followed the presentation of a memo to the Oyo State Executive Council by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun.
According to a statement by Governor Seyi Makinde’s Special Adviser (Media), Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, the carnival is intended to put the state in celebratory mood and create business opportunities for residents of the state throughout the yuletide period.
The Commissioner, who noted that the carnival would not be restricted to Ibadan, the state capital, alone, as it would also hold concurrently in various parts of the state, added that adequate arrangement had been made to secure lives and property before, during and after the carnival.
Governor Makinde is expected to flag off the carnival in the first week of December.
#Vibing December, which is being organised in conjunction with communities, towns and a number of corporate sponsors, will feature activities such as Legendary December, with beer village at designated centres; Fantasyland variety programme; Ogbomoso Cradle Carnival; Oyo Durbar; Amaland Festival; Atewolara Festival; Hotel Vibes; Ojude UI; artistes’ hangout and concerts, among others.
