The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, has expressed appreciation to a former President of the University of Ibadan Alumni Association and former Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University, Elder Felix Ohiwerei, for his immense and selfless contribution to the development of the premier university during the times he occupied the two important positions.
Professor Adebowale eulogised Ohiwerei when he led a team from the University on a courtesy visit to him in his Lagos home.
The Vice-Chancellor gave the assurance that the present Management team would do all it could to ensure that the position of the University of Ibadan as the first and the best was upheld.
Mr Ohiwerei, who felt highly honoured to receive the team, recalled that serving the University as the Pro-Chancellor, President of the Alumni Association, and later as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Alumni Association was borne out of his passion of service to mankind and not for pecuniary gains.
On the Vice-Chancellor’s entourage were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration & Director Office of the Alumni Relations, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Peter O. Olapegba; the Registrar, Mr Ganiyu O. Saliu; one time Administrative Secretary of the UI Alumni Association, Professor Ayo Hammed; and a former member of the University’s Governing Council and active life-member of the University of Ibadan Alumni Association, Dr Gani Adeniran.
Others were Deputy Registrar in the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mr O. O Dada; Principal Assistant Registrar/Public Relations Officer, Directorate of Public Communication, Mrs Adejoke O. Akinpelu and the university’s official photographer, Mr Adeniyi Adebayo.
