Four persons, including the driver, lost their lives, while nine others sustained injuries on Sunday, March 9, in a lone auto crash which occurred at Alapako axis of Lagos-Ibadan expressway, in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.
Thenewsbearer learnt that the crash was as a result of tyre burst of the involved vehicle, a Toyota Hiace with registration number FKJ 570 YE.
A statement by the image maker for Ogun State Police Command, CSP Omolola Odutola, disclosed an eyewitness account which had it the bus was from Ibadan, Oyo State, going to Lagos State when, all of a sudden, the left rear tyre bursted at a bad portion of the road, which made the driver to lose control.
The vehicle reportedly somersaulted and skidded off the road, resulting also in its severe damage.
The PPRO said that the presence of police helped in traffic control, easing human congestion and spectator, as well as conducting on-the-scene video capturing and documentation.
She stated further that the injured victims were immediately evacuated to Victory Hospital, Ogere, for medical treatment, while the remains of the deceased were deposited at FOS Mortuary, Ipara, for autopsy.
CSP Odutola added that the wreckage of the vehicle wreck had been moved to the police station for Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) assessment and further investigation.
The Command urged motorists to always ensure proper vehicle maintenance and adhere to traffic safety regulations to prevent road mishaps.
