Police operatives attached to Ijora Division of Lagos State Police Command have arrested a vigilante group member, Lukman Raman (30), command, for allegedly shooting one Musa Yahaya (28), on his chest at Ijora area.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at about 2p.m., according to a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Wednesday , April 14.
The victim was confirmed dead after being rushed to the hospital.
The PPRO pointed out that the police got the suspect arrested and recovered his gun and some cartridges, after they were alerted.
Also, policemen attached to Elemoro Division, on Wednesday, April 14, at about 2am, apprehended 17 suspected armed robbers at their various hideouts within the area, based on intelligence gathering.
Adejobi gave the names of the suspects as Oladapo Job (22), Abdulraheem Sidibaba (20), Abdulrasheed Adebayo (20), Tajudeen Abdullahi, Agbaje Sunday (21), including 12 others.
Items recovered from them were three cut-to-size locally-made pistols and four live catridges.
According to the police spokesman, the suspects were the armed robbers alleged of terrorising and robbing residents and (PoS) operators at Ibeju area of the state.
“They are giving useful information to the police on their various activities and/or operations in Lekki area,” he stated.
Adejobi added that the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had ordered that all the suspects be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department , Panti, Yaba, for further investigation and subsequent prosecution if found culpable.
