A former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Vincent Ogbulafor, is dead.
Ogbulafor died in Canada on Thursday during a brief undisclosed illness at 73.
Lawyer and close associate of the deceased, Goddy Uwazurike, said that Ogbulafor would likely be buried in 2023.
“Chief Vincent Ogbulafor, KSM, died in the early hours of today (Thursday October 6, 2022) in Canada at 73. The Royal Family of Ogbulafor will announce a date for the burial ceremonies, which will most likely take place next year,” Uwazurike was quoted as saying.
“He was the head of the family. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord. Let perpetual light shine on him,” he added.
Ogbulafor was born on May 24, 1949, in Olokoro, Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State.
He was also a former national secretary of the PDP.
While serving as the party’s chairman, he resigned his appointment after being charged with alleged financial recklessness while serving as a minister.
He was reputed to have boasted that the PDP would rule for 40 years, a wish truncated by the All Progressives Congress (APC) winning the 2015 presidential poll.
Ogbulafor was succeeded as the party’s national chairman by Okwesilieze Nwodo, a former Enugu governor.
