Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Ngozi Onadeko, has charged newly-promoted police officers to see their elevation as being more alive and responsive to their duties.
Onadeko gave the charge on Friday, February 12, 2021, during the decoration of the promoted officers at the Police Officers’ Mess, Eleyele, Ibadan.
She was joined by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, Ibadan, Wale Abass; Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Abubakar Lawal; Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, Titus Musa Samuel and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Administration, Gabriel Dibie.
She congratulated each of them on their new ranks, saying that they worked hard to get them.
The police boss however told the officers that the promotion carries heavier responsibilities.
She said: “I want you to know that to whom much is given, much is expected. You have been elevated to this new position which carries new and heavier responsibilities.
I join you in thanking God for the promotion, and also advise you to be alive and responsive to your duties.
“Once we do what we are expected of, life moves on. Let us work hard and keep the tempo higher than where it is now.”
Some of the officers decorated were promoted from Deputy Superintendents of Police to Superintendents of Police. Among them was SP Ayodeji Olusola, the Officer in charge of Political Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, Ibadan.
Others were also elevated from Assistant Superintendents of Police to Deputy Superintendents of Police.
Among them were DSP Samuel Shonekan and DSP Emotonghan Emmanuel, both officers in charge of Patrol and Guard, Apete Division in Ibadan, DSP Segun Oyinloye, of Monitoring Unit of the state police command and DSP Aderonke Kadiri.
