The gruesome murder of the Divisional Police Officer, Ahoada Division in Rivers State, SP Bako Angbashim, has been condemned by the acting Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, just as he ordered immediate investigation, arrest, and prosecution of all the culprits that carried out the heinous and barbaric act.
In a statement on Saturday, September 9, 2023, the Force spokesman, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed that before DPO was slain, he was humiliated, and after his gruesome murder, his body was mutilated by some hardened armed criminals in Ahoada area of the state on Friday, September 8, while on operation in the area.
Condemning the act, the IGP said that it was not only an affront on the national status of law enforcement agents but also a reflection of a lack of patriotism and gross illegality.
Stressing that such nefarious acts against any operative in Nigeria would not be taken with levity as all the perpetrators would be made to face the full wrath of the law, IGP Egbetokun commiserated with the grieving family, dedicated colleagues and friends of the late Superintendent of Police and urged them to embody his dedication, humility, and selflessness.
