The police in Kwara State Command have arrested three suspects, one of whom disguised as a female wearing a hijab, over their alleged links to a kidnapping syndicate responsible for multiple abductions in Kwara State.
The suspects were identified as Aliyu Isiaka, Seriki and Jibrin.
The arrests followed an intelligence-led joint operation involving police personnel and Forest Guards, according to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on Tuesday, October 27.
Thenewsbearer gathered that the operation began with the arrest of Isiaka from Ga’a Papa Village in Moro Local Government Area, at Okolowo, Ilorin, on Saturday, October 24, at about 6 p.m.
Isiaka was reportedly intercepted while wearing female attire and a hijab and carrying a polythene bag containing assorted charms.
During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to being a member of a nine-man kidnapping gang led by a suspect identified as Juli, who is currently at large.
The suspect reportedly told investigators that he joined the gang in August 2026 and participated in three kidnapping operations in Oloru, Alapa and Malete, where ransom payments were collected.
Further investigations led to a joint operation at the suspected kidnappers’ camp on October 25, resulting in the arrest of the two additional suspects, Seriki and Jibrin.
The PPRO said that the three suspects are being investigated and would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
In his comment, the Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, said the operation was part of efforts to dismantle kidnapping networks and improve security across vulnerable communities.
He added that the command would sustain intelligence-led operations and collaboration with other security agencies in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
