Police operatives attached to Area “J”, Ajah and Ogombo Division of the Lagos on July 7, 2021, arrested four suspected members of Aiye Confraternity.
The arrest was in furtherance of the command’s repeated warnings against the Neo Black Movement of Africa, a.k.a Black Axe 7/7 annual celebration, slated for the date.
Disclosing this in a statement on Thursday, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said that two of the suspects, Michael Abejoye (23) and Olalekan Quasim (43), were arrested at Eleko Junction, Ajah area at 1.30pm, with the regalia of Aiye Confraternity by police operatives attached to Area J, Ajah, while on routine stop-and-search.
Also, the police operatives attached to Ogombo Division, arrested another two suspected Aiye Confraternity members, identified as Andoh Emmanuel Kolawole (25) and Oluwasegun Destiny (28), on July 8, at about 6.30am, in Ogombo area of the state.
Items recovered from them included a locally-made double-barreled short gun, seven live cartridges, an expended cartridge and regalia of the Aiye Confraternity.
The PPRO said that the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had ordered that the suspects be transferred to the Command’s Strike Team, Ikeja, for proper investigation and possible prosecution.
The police commissioner also reiterated the command’s commitment to sustain its fight against cultism and other forms of criminality in Lagos State.
