•As operatives arrest suspected cultist with pistol
Stop-and-search operation by policemen in Delta State Police Command has led to the arrest of a suspected armed robber found with an AK-47 rifle and ammunition.
The suspect was identified as Davison Edehede, aged 34, of Ugbor road, Ukpaka area of Warri.
Confirming the suspect’s arrest in a statement on Friday, August 27, 2021, the command’s acting police spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, said that he was apprehended on Monday, August 23, at about 7am by the Safer Highway teams stationed between Delta and Edo boundary on Sapele/Benin road while on stop-and-search duty.
They had flagged down a white Nissan Maxima car with registration number JJJ 494 ES driven by the suspect, and when searched, an AK-47 rifle with breech number 7165 and nine rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition were discovered in it.
Also arrested was a suspect, Ifeanyi Ajudia, allegedly found with locally-fabricated Beretta pistol.

Edafe said that the command’s Raider operatives received information on same day that a cultist had been trailing a man (name withheld).
The policemen were said to have acted on the information by investigating and unraveling the person behind the threat.
According to the PPRO, “they went on an intelligence-led investigation which led to the arrest of one Ifeanyi Ajudia at Ibusa. A search warrant was executed in the house and premises of the suspect, where one locally-fabricated Beretta pistol without magazine was recovered.”

He stated that the stop and search operation had been vital in helping the command to fight crime in the state, noting that it was part of the proactive policing that had been put in place by the command’s Commissioner of Police, Ari Muhammed Ali, which had continued to help nip crime in the bud.
He added that investigations were ongoing concerning the two arrests.
