•Travellers found with 25 cows, 13 motorcycles
An attack by hoodlums was prevented by Amotekun Corps and operatives of Operation Burst, when a DAF truck conveying about 80 passengers of Fulani extraction, were noticed and intercepted at Iwo Road, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Sunday, February 7, 2021, at about 5p.m.
The truck, with registration number Bauchi KTG 220 ZZ, was driven by one Auwalu Mustapha, with the passengers having 25 cows and 13 motorcycles.
Thenewsbearer learnt that the operatives doused the tension in the atmosphere by taking the travelers to Agodi police station, not far from the scene.
During interrogation, the police were said to have sought to know the mission and destination of the intercepted people.
In response, the Fulanis had told the police that they were from Wudil in Kano State, and were on their way to Ogun and Lagos States.
They stated further they bought the cows from Wudil, to sell them at Agege Abattoir in Lagos.
Those going to Ogun also told the police that motorcycle riders intended to alight from the truck with their bikes at the Toll Gate at Ogere town.
When contacted, the police spokesman in the state, CSP Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the story.
Fadeyi said that the travellers were searched, and nothing incriminating was found with them or in the vehicle that brought them.
The PPRO added that the truck and the passengers were escorted by Agodi Division police patrol team to the Toll Gate at Ibadan end of Lagos/Ibadan highway, to make them leave peacefully, as they headed towards Lagos.
