Police operatives attached to the Obosi Division in Anambra State Police Command, on Tuesday, December 2, arrested a suspect, Oluchukwu Anyaoku, for allegedly threatening violence, with a vow to destroy all police formations in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area.
The threat, seen on a viral online video led the police operatives into immediate action, whereby the suspect was trailed, arrested and taken into custody for questioning.
Recovered in the suspect’s possession were a firearm and a cutlass.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Wednesday, December 3, said that preliminary observations indicated that the suspect might require professional medical evaluation, adding that appropriate procedures were being followed in this regard.
“To this end, the case is being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for a comprehensive investigation and review of available information already obtained about the incident,” the PPRO stated.
