Operatives of the Anti-Robbery Squad, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Ogun State Police Command, have arrested a suspected armed robber, one Adenekan Segun, also known as “Expensive,” and recovered two pump-action firearms following credible intelligence.
The Police Public Relations Officer DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, who confirmed this on Friday, December 20, said that the Command received actionable intelligence on Sunday , December 14, indicating that the suspect was unlawfully in possession of pump-action firearms.
He was alleged to have brandished the weapons during a minor disagreement with someone, Thenewsbearer learnt.
The PPRO stated that the information led police operatives to act swiftly, resulting in the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the rifles.
“Investigation is ongoing to trace the source of the recovered firearms, after which the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,” he said further.
The Commissioner of Police, Dr Lanre Ogunlowo, who commended the swift response of the operatives, reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms.
He assured residents of Ogun State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to sustaining peace and urges members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the Police.
