While Christian faithful were in celebration mood for Christmas, two suspects, who chose the period as an opportunity to steal a bike and goods from a company, have been nabbed by the Ogun State Police Command.
The suspects, identified as Francis Obeya (26) and Emmanuel Abah (21), were caught in the early hours of Friday, December 25, 2020.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said that a Lagos-based company which employed the suspects had called Ogun Command’s control room, that a dispatch rider, who was to deliver goods to a client, had fled with the goods and the motorcycle.
“Information further revealed that the said rider was heading towards Shagamu-Ore road.
“Based on the information, policemen along that axis were duly mobilised to be on the look out for the motorcycle.
“At about 12:30 a.m., policemen attached to Ogbere division sighted the motorcycle at J4 area, with a rider and one other, and they were promptly arrested.
“The two suspects are currently being detained at the station, while the motorcycle had been recovered,” the PPRO explained.
Oyeyemi added that the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun had directed that Obeya and Abah be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and intelligence Department for further investigation.
He said that they would thereafter be taken to Lagos State Police Command where the crime was committed.
