A 43-year-old man, Mr Daniel Coker, who was on Thursday, May 11, arrested by the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, also known as So-Safe Corps, was discovered to have stripped himself naked before bursting into neighbour’s apartment to steal, in order to escape undetected.
Armed with cutlass and knife, Coker was said to have invaded his neighbour’s room, stole his smart TV and decoder before escaping into the dark.
However, he was apprehended by the So-Safe Corps after it received the report of the invasion.
The spokesman of the Corps, Moruf Yusuf, in a statement issued on behalf of the Commander, Dr Soji Ganzallo, said that the security agency got a distress call from a community man on the incident, which prompted officers and men of the Corps in Adiyan/Alausa/Onibudo Division on routine patrol to go to the victim’s residence at 2, Adesina Compound, Onibudo via Akute in Ifo Local Government Area.
There, the victim told the officers of the invader who forced his way into his apartment, naked, with a cutlass and a knife, and carted away a smart TV and a decoder before he could call for help.
Fortunately, the So-Safe operatives apprehended the suspect, found to be a neighbour and living in same building with the victim after a thorough search.
Items found in his room and recovered included the stolen television, three cutlasses a jack knife.
When interrogated , Thenewsbearer gathered that the suspect confessed to committing the crime, saying that he had believed no one would ever suspect him with the method he adopted, save the expertise demonstrated by the So-Safe officers.
The Commander said that the suspect and recovered items had been transfered to the Ajuwon Divisional Police Headquarters in the state police command for further investigation.
He advised the general populace to be wary of releasing their keys to neighbours to give to members of their families.
