Efforts of operatives of Western Nigeria Security Network, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, and policemen, to maintain peace in Ona Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State were almost thwarted on Friday, February 5, 2021, when they were attacked by hoodlums.
This led to four of the operatives sustaining serious injuries, and were said to have been admitted into the intensive care unit at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
Thenewsbearer learnt that the incident occurred after a distress call by Odeyale Community Landlord Association in the area, urging the security agents to help dislodge the activities of hoodlums in their neighbourhood.
Speaking on the incident, in a statement by the Media Management Department, the Coordinator of Amotekun operations in the local government area, Mr Gabriel Gbemileke Adelakun, said that the hoodlums attacked the Corps and the police with machetes and axes.
He added that injured Corps were still undergoing treatment at the UCH, while investigation is ongoing.
