Gunmen on Saturday, May 29, 2021, continued their attacks against security formations by razing Attah Divisional Police Headquarters, newly constructed by the community and yet to be handed over, in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State.
The hoodlums equally razed the Attah Magistrate and High Court and vandalized the community health centre.
The attack, which occurred in the early hours of the day, caused serious panic in the area.
Community sources told Thenewsbearer that the invaders shot sporadically for close to an hour before torching the government facilities in the community.
Meanwhile, the state police command has launched a manhunt for the hoodlums who damaged the Attah High Court while the Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident.
The police spokesperson in the state, SP Bala Elkana, who disclosed this in a statement, said that the command had received a distress call on Saturday at about 7am, that some hoodlums had mobilised themselves in large number and stormed the premises High/Magistrate Court, Attah, setting it on fire.
Elkana said also that they damaged a building that was constructed by the community, intended to be used as police station at Attah, in Njaba Local Government Area.
“Upon the receipt of the complaint, Police Special Forces were deployed to the scene. The Commissioner of Police Imo state, CP Abutu Yaro, has ordered a full investigation into the incident,” he stated.
The PPRO added that the police commissioner directed that no stone should be left unturned until the perpetrators of such heinous crime are apprehended and made to face the full weight of the law.
