A team of operatives in Imo State Police Command, led by the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma on Saturday, December 6, 2025, inspected suspected kidnappers’ hideouts in Umuhu Autonomous Community, Ngor-Okpala, with the discovery of mutilated and decomposed bodies in a private mortuary owned by Stanley Morocco Oparaugo.
The inspection was part of ongoing efforts to curb kidnapping and other violent crimes along the Owerri–Aba Expressway, following credible intelligence on Oparaugo who owns the hotel and private mortuary.
The suspect, who is currently at large, also owns a hotel.
Thenewsbearer gathered that the hotel and private mortuary were allegedly being used by kidnappers and criminals.
The delegation on the inspection tour included the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Chioma Egu; Chief Pathologist, Imo State Specialist Hospital, Dr. Ibeaja Okechukwu; members of the Ngor Okpala Vigilante Group, led by Mr. Henry Ikpe; and the Chairman of Ngor Okpala Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Chika Ibekwe.
The Command’s spokesman, DSP Henry Okoye, in a statement on Saturday, December 6, said that during an inspection of the mortuary, decomposed and mutilated corpses were discovered in unhygienic conditions, raising suspicions of illegal organ harvesting activities.
As a result of this, the Command has declared Oparaugo wanted, urging anyone with useful information to contact the nearest police station or call 0803 477 3600.
“Following these discoveries, both the hotel and mortuary were sealed on the directive of the state government.
“The suspect’s residence was also searched, and crucial exhibits were recovered. Forensic experts documented and secured evidence.
“The Commissioner of Police assured the public that all accomplices would be identified and brought to justice,” the PPRO stated.
He added that maximum security had been deployed along the Owerri–Aba Expressway, with an assurance of commitment of the Command to the safety of travellers during the holidays.
