A team of police operatives in Kano State Police Command have intercepted a Volkswagen Golf 3 car conveying 135 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
The interception was made on June 24, 2022 at about 11pm during a visibility patrol by the police team, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Rogo Division, CSP Aminu S. Wurno, at Damagiri Village, Rogo Local Government Area, on Katsina-Kano boundary.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who made this known on Friday, July 15, said that the driver of the ash colour Golf 3 car was coming from Katsina State and heading towards Kano.
“On sighting the presence of the police, the driver of the vehicle zoomed off. On sustained follow-up, the driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped. When searched, 135 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana and valued at N1.35 million were recovered in the vehicle.
“An investigation conducted revealed that the driver deals in buying and selling marijuana and left his residence for an unknown destination,” the PPRO stated.
He said that the state Commissioner of Police, Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko had directed that the case be transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, Narcotics Section, for discreet investigation.
Warning that criminals would not be allowed to have a hiding place in the state, CP Dikko advised them to either repent or leave the state completely.
He urged residents to continue to pray for the state and the nation, report incidences at the nearest police station, and not take laws into their hands.
The police boss assured that rigorous patrol, raids of criminal hideouts and black spots would continue throughout the state, as the command would sustain the ongoing community policing engagements that had been yielding positive results.
