The Kwara State Police Command has arrested two suspects, Gabiyu Lawal and Ademola Waheed, after they were intercepted and found with a stolen Toyota Camry with registration number APP 443 CX.
Thenewsbearer learnt that the vehicle was reported missing in Lagos.
Confirming the arrest and recovery of the stolen vehicle, the command’s spokeswoman, DSP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said that detectives got an intelligence report from a motor spare parts dealer in Ipata-Oloje, Ilorin, prompting them to apprehend the two suspects on Friday, November 22, at about 6pm.
“During a thorough search of the car, a GSM number linked to the owner, Mr. Ajibade Abel, of Badagry Road, Lagos, was found.
“When contacted, Mr. Abel confirmed the vehicle had been stolen from a parking lot in Lagos and that the case had been reported at Area C Police Command, Surulere, Lagos.
“The suspects admitted purchasing the vehicle for a suspiciously low price of ₦400,000 and intended to resell it in Ilorin for ₦1,000,000.
“Further investigations are underway to identify other accomplices and unravel the full extent of their criminal activities,” the PPRO stated.
The Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, commended the public for their vigilance and urged continued cooperation in providing timely intelligence to ensure a safer Kwara State.
