A 34-year-old man, Ifeanyi Odieze Ezenagu, who lured six women to a hotel and dispossessed them of their belongings valued at N2.368 million, has been arrested by detectives in Surulere Division of the Lagos State Police Command.
Confirming the suspect’s arrest on Saturday, August 6, 2022, the police spokesman in the state, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, listed the items the women were robbed of, which included three pieces of iPhone 12, two pieces of iPhone 11 Pro Max, an iPhone XR, a Nokia phone, a wristwatch and a gold necklace, valued at N2.368 million.
The PPRO disclosed that after the suspect lured the six women into the hotel, he laced their drinks with sedative, resulting in their falling into a deep sleep.
Hundeyin said that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had no fixed address but used to lure women to different hotels where, unknown to them, he would sedate them with drugs and rob them.
“Investigations further revealed that he has robbed over 30 women since he ventured into this crime,” the image-maker added.
While the stolen items had been recovered before he could dispose of them, the PPRO said that efforts were on to apprehend receivers of stolen items he was working with, while he and those to be arrested would be arraigned after the conclusion of investigation.
In his comment, the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, assured all residents of Lagos that the command would continue to work towards the decimation of crime and criminality in the Centre of Excellence.
He equally enjoined Nigerians to be vigilant and report any suspicious happening to security agencies.
