Police in Lagos State Police Command have stopped a suspect, Ibeh George Udoka, in his tracks, as was arrested in Benin city, Edo State, after fleeing the state of acquatic splendor with a Toyota car he allegedly stole from his boss.
He was said to have been driving the car to Imo State to sell it when he was apprehended.
The police spokesman in Lagos, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Thursday, May 13, 2021, said: “On 4th May, 2021, at about 1pm, one Mrs Akinola Ibironke came to Idimu Police Division and reported that her driver, Ibeh George Udoka, to whom she handed her Toyota Corolla vehicle, with registration number ABC 801 FU, to deliver to her mechanic for repairs, on 3rd May, 2021, was not seen, and since then, his phone number had been switched off.
“The police operatives attached to Idimu Division of the Lagos State Police Command swung into action and relayed repeated radio messages to all police formations across the country for possible recovery of the car.
“Due to the command’s continuous tracking of the driver, the Lagos police operatives alerted the policemen in Edo State, on 6th May, 2021, and the driver was intercepted with the car in Benin City, on his way to Imo State.”
The PPRO stated further that with the directive of the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, the police operatives from Lagos proceeded to Benin City for the recovery of the car and arrest of the suspect, in response to the call from Edo Command.
Applauding the efforts by and synergy between Lagos and Edo state commands towards recovering the car and arresting the suspect, Odumosu also directed that the matter should be investigated and the suspect brought to book.
