Commissioner of Police in Lagos State Command, Hakeem Odumosu, has warned the Divisional Police Officers and Heads of Departments in the Command against the use of patrol vans as personal utility vehicles.

Odumosu gave the warning on Friday, May 28, 2021, during the presentation of six new Nissan patrol vans to the Command by Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, at the National Assembly, Abuja, at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja.

The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who disclosed the presentation of the vehicles, said that the Commissioner of Police received the patrol vans on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force and appreciated Hon. Faleke for his gesture and support to the command and other security agencies, towards having better security in Ikeja Federal Constituency and Lagos State in general.

He further commended the House of Representatives member for the ongoing renovation of Ojodu Division that was vandalised and partly torched during the last violent EndSARS protests in October 2020.

Odumosu promised to utilise the patrol vans judiciously, for effective policing of the entire area of Ikeja Federal Constituency, as projected by Faleke.

He added that the vans would be deployed within the onstituency for purposes underlining the donation.

Appealing to good-spirited leaders and individuals in the state to emulate Hon. Faleke, the police boss also admonished the general public to support the police and volunteer useful information to form solid intelligence gathering in the state.

During the presentation, the Lagos State Police Command received the six patrol vans, while the Federal Road Safety Corps and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) received one each.

In his remarks, Hon. Faleke reiterated his support to the police and other security agencies in his constituency, to improve on security of his people there and Lagos residents in general.

He promised to embark on more projects that would assist the police in discharging their duties as expected.

Other senior officers present at the brief event included the Zonal Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, ACM Peter Akibo; Sector Commander, FRSC, Lagos, Olusegun Ogungbemide and the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, Ahmed Kontagora.

Others were the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance and Administration, Bassey Ewah; Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers in the Constituency, officials from LASTMA and other agencies.
