A 45-year-old man, Kayode Adeyanju, has been arrested by police operatives attached to Ipakodo Division, Ikorodu, Lagos State, for allegedly defiling his 14-year-old daughter.
The suspect, who lives at Tinubu Estate, Ikorodu, was picked up on Monday, June 7, 2021, at about 1pm.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed that the suspect’s daughter was the one who personally reported the case at the police station after her ordeal in the hands of her father, leading to his arrest.
This, Adejobi said, made the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, who condemned the act, to order the case to be transferred to the Gender Unit of the Command for further investigation.
Also, police operatives attached to Morogbo Division rounded up seven suspected cultists while holding a meeting in a hotel on Sunday, June 13, at about 10am.
The PPRO said that the police acted on a tip-off from the hotel management at Igbekele Morogbo.
The suspects included Hameed Salami (35), Ogunlade Adewale, (30), Sunday Ogbemudia, m, (36), Okekunle Segun (26), Imole Kingsley, (23), Rasak Lekan, (26), and Osuya Innocent, (23).
Items recovered from them included a locally-made pistol, two live cartridges, an axe and assorted charms.
The state police boss had directed the operatives to transfer the case to the Command’s Special Squad, Ikeja, for discreet investigation.
Odumosu reiterated the command’s commitment to continual tackling of cultism and all sorts of crimes and criminality in the state, as all hands were on deck to improve on the already established security architecture.
