A 47-year-old native doctor, Okonji Chimeze, has been arrested by the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Squad operatives of Delta State Police Command after two automatic pump-action guns and a cutlass were recovered from his room ceiling during a search.
Thenewsbearer gathered that the operatives, acting on a credible intelligence, made the discovery while carrying out an investigation concerning the native doctor.
Also, two suspected cultists, identified as Telvin Richmond, aged 27; and Frank Obiorah, 26 years old, were intercepted by Eagle-Net Surveillance team stationed at Ughelli North Local Government Area.
In a statement on Tuesday, June 24, the Command’s spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed that on Wednesday, June 18, at about 12:20a.m., while on routine stop and search duty along Otokutu Bridge, Warri, the operatives intercepted a black Toyota Corolla car with registration number RSH 90 RC driven by Richmond, with Obiorah in his company.
During a search of the vehicle and the suspects, a locally-made cut-to-size gun, two yellow hand bands with NBM “Neo Black Movement” inscribed on them, one battle axe and a wooden pistol, all concealed in a compartment of the vehicle doors, were recovered.
According to the PPRO, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects belong to Aye Confraternity, while one of the suspects confessed that he bought one of the guns recovered in 2024 for N87,000 from another suspect who is currently at large.
The PPRO said that all the suspects were still under investigation, with the recovered exhibits in police custody.
