Veteran Yoruba actor, Mr. Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe, is dead.
The actor died on Monday, November 22, 2021, at the age of 63 after a prolonged illness.
The son of the late comedian, Adesola Omidina, confirmed his demise in an Instagram post, saying: “This is to announce the sudden death of my father, Mr. Babatunde Omidina, the legend and rare gem, ‘Baba Suwe’ on 11/22/21. Other details will follow shortly! May your soul rest in perfect peace Dad!”
Before his illness and subsequent death, Baba Suwe was very popular for his comical roles in Nollywood films with the use of Yoruba language.
He reportedly suffered adverse health issues in 2018, making several Nigerians, including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, to donate funds for his medical treatment abroad.
He would be buried today by 4pm at his residence, Ewu Elepe, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Actor Lege Miami shared a video of the deceased’s daughter, crying by the thespian’s death bed and accusing his family members of abandoning him.
