A suspected cultist, Suleiman Kazeem, said to be a leader of a cult group, the dreaded Aye Confraternity, has been arrested by operatives in Ogun State Police Command in connection with the killing of a rival during cult clash.
He was picked on Monday, June 7, 2021, according to information released by the command’s police spokesman, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi on Sunday, June 13.
Disclosing what led to the suspect’s arrest, the PPRO said that a distress call made to Divisional Police Officer in Sagamu, CSP Okiki Agunbiade, that two rival cult groups, Aye and Eiye Confraternities, were in a supremacy battle at Latawa area of Sagamu.
They were said to have been making life difficult for innocent members of the community.
Oyeyemi said: “Upon the distress call, the DPO mobilised his men and moved to the scene. On getting there, it was discovered that a member of Eiye Confraternity, simply identified as Ajekunrin, had been killed by the rival group, with his two hands cut off before the members escaped from the scene.”
He stated further that the DPO and his men, with the assistance of vigilante group, trailed the group to Agbowa area of Sagamu, where they succeeded in arresting Kazeem.

Recovered from him were a double-barrel locally-fabricated pistol, a live cartridge and a Fonetom mobile phone.
Oyeyemi added that the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Anti-Cultism Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.
