Three suspected members of a robbery syndicate terrorizing Mowe and its environs have been arrested by police operatives in Ogun State Command.
The suspects, identified as Daniel Okereke, Henry Osagwe and Wisdom Atuba, were apprehended on Monday, October 18, 2021, according to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi.
They were reportedly sighted at a hideout at Ajeonibode area of Mowe, where they were allegedly perfecting plans on when and how to attack their targeted victims.
The information was relayed to policemen attached to Mowe divisional headquarters at about 10 pm, about the group of men, numbering about seven, which made the Divisional Police Officer in Mowe division, CSP Saminu Akintunde, to mobilize his men to go to the scene.
On sighting the policemen, however, the hoodlums were said to have taken to their heels, but three of them were arrested with the assistance of members of the community while others escaped.
Recovered from them were a locally-made shotgun loaded with two live cartridges, two jack knives and criminal charms.
DSP Oyeyemi said that the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.
The police commissioner also directed a manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang, with a view of bringing them to justice within the shortest possible period.
