In connection with the viral video recording in which a lady was assaulted at Beere area of Ibadan, Oyo State, some soldiers attached to Operation Burst, a security outfit in the state, have been arrested and detained.
This was made known on Monday, November 2, 2020 by the Commander of the security outfit, Captain Peter Usorlor during Fresh FM’s Situation Room, transmitted on Monday.
Thenewsbearer learnt that the lady in question was flogged by some soldiers, one of whom was as Adesina, in Operation Burst, over what they termed ‘indecent dressing.’
In the viral video recording, which was circulated over the weekend, the operatives could be seen using horsewhips on the lady, in the presence of onlookers.
In another instance, a resident accused the operatives of shaving his head at Beere/Mapo area.
Residents of the community had also accused Operation Burst operatives of terrorising them on what they regarded as flimsy excuses.
Captain Usorlor had apologised to the families of those assaulted, saying that new officers had been brought into the security outfit to replace the erring ones.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports in the state, Mr Seun Fakorede, said, “My ears are full with news of the unlawful activities of some soldiers of the Nigerian Army, over the weekend.
“I reached out to the Commandant of the Operation Burst, and I have been assured that the men involved in this distasteful operation have been arrested and taken to the barracks. They will be dealt with accordingly.”
