Operatives in Benue State Police Command have arrested two suspects allegedly involved in armed robbery and fraudulent activities.
Confirming the arrest, the state command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Catherine Anene, gave the names of the suspects as Sapele Great and Hakem Joseph Adi, saying that they were apprehended in Makurdi.
Before the arrest, Thenewsbearer learnt that the state Commissioner of Police, Wale Abass, had received a report on April 5, 2022 at about 10:30am that on the same date, at about 3am, armed robbers broke into a house at New GRA, Makurdi and made away with Automated Teller Machine cards, phones, and other belongings.

The PPRO said that the armed robbers also transferred N300,000 from the victim’s accounts using the stolen ATM cards.
This made the police commissioner to deploy a team of detectives to trail and arrest the suspects.
However, knowing that they were being trailed, the suspects ran into hiding until they were arrested on Wednesday, June 15.
Recovered from them were suspects a locally-made pistol loaded with nine rounds of 6mm live ammunition, eight phones suspected to be stolen, an electronic shocking device, 18 SIM cards of different networks, a United Bank for Africa cheque book belonging to Agasha Philemon Assume and other electronic devices suspected to be used to internet fraud.
“These suspects confessed to be cultists, armed robbers and fraudsters. The investigation is ongoing to arrest other suspects involved,” SP Anene stated.
