Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Lagos State, Mr Moyosore Onigbanjo, SAN, joined hands with the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, to commission a renovated police law library on Wednesday, March 3, 2021.
Police Public Relations Officer of the state, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement that the commissioning of the law library, which was donated by the Lagos State Government, was held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos.
Speaking at the commissioning, the Commissioner for Justice, who represented the state government, said that it was necessary to update police lawyers and work with the state police command on better criminal justice administration.
Onigbanjo promised that the Lagos State Government would ensure quick dispensation of justice, as well as improvement on the criminal justice system of the state in general.
In his remarks at the event, Odumosu commended the state government for its support to the police command in all areas.
The police commissioner reassured the government and people of the state of adequate security and quick dispensation of justice, saying that police lawyers in the command were well grounded in laws and regulations, and also had better access to relevant law books and literatures.
He added that all the relevant documents would upgrade their knowledge in the legal framework of the state.
The Officer in Charge of the police Legal Unit of the command, SP Yetunde Cardoso, expressed appreciation to the state government and the Commissioner of Police for their support to the legal unit, promising that there would be no disappointment, as the unit would thrive better with the new library.
The PPRO disclosed that the event was witnessed by the Director of Public Prosecution, Lagos State, Mrs Adeyinka Adeyemi; DCP, Operations, Ahmed Kontangora, former Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yetunde Longe; current DCP CID, Adegoke Fayoade; the Oba of Igbobi-Sabe Yaba, Oba Owolabi Adeniyi and the Chairman Yaba LCDA, Hon Omiyale Kayode.
Thenewsbearer learnt that the command, with the new development in its legal unit, was determined to remain resolute in enforcing all laws and regulations in the state, with a view to improving its security architecture.
