PERSONALITIES, including Vice President Kashim Shettima; Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun; Senator Tokunbo Abiru, Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, Honourable Babajimi Solomon, among others, were recently on hand as witnesses
as the Sharia Court of Appeal in Kwara State presented a marriage certificate to Abdul Baasit Ogbara and Raabihah from the family of late Imam Ayub and Alhaja Fatima Muhammad at an event centre in Lagos State.
Speaking at the event, Prince Abiodun said; “I have come on behalf of my family and the entire government of Ogun State to be a witness to this union that is being consummated here today and to also join the family in praying for the couples; that as God almighty has joined them together, He will keep them joined together for the rest of their lives.
“They will enjoy their matrimony in happiness, this union will be blessed with children and grandchildren.
“I choose to come because of the person of Honourable Kafilat Ogbara. She is a very tenacious, experienced, dependable, loyal, consistent and reliable politician and friend.
“At a few times like this, you show someone how much they are appreciated. To decide to come as a witness here at this celebration, I have come to celebrate with her and the family, solidarize with her that God has given her the grace, to see her son get married. God will continue to give Ogbara and her well wishers reasons to celebrate in their families.”
Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu, referred the couples to the benefit of marriage under Islamic law as reeled out by the guest lecturer.
He enjoined the couples to uphold marriage virtues as postulated by the Shariah law and wished the two families well as they unite as one.
Honourable Ogbara, mother of the groom, appreciated all ranks and files that graced the occasion.
In an interview with journalists at the event , she said: “Alihamdulilah, I give all the glory to almighty Allah for making this day possible. My son Abdul Basit got married to Rabiah. We are blessed to have the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria ably represented by the Vice President Alhaji Kassim Shettima.
“Of course, my Governor was represented by his wife and the Governor of Ogun State. A lot of other well meaning Nigerians, Ministers, Senators, National Assembly members, and everybody all came. Am so elated and humbled and I thank Almighty Allah for making this day a glorious day.”
