An 18-year-old boy, Jamiu Malomo,
who allegedly murdered a 28-year- old-lady, Azeezat Akande, through stabbing, over disagreement on payment for service, has been arrested by the police in Ogun State.
Thenewsbearer learnt that the incident occurred on Sunday, July 18, 2021, while lifeless body of the lady was discovered on Monday, July 19, with a knife soaked with blood found beside her on a rock in the area where her body lay after she was stabbed.
Following a report lodged at Adatan divisional headquarters by the chairman, Ilupeju Community, Oke Aregba, Abeokuta, that they woke up in the morning to behold the gory sight, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Adatan Division, SP Abiodun Salau and his detectives moved to the scene.
From there, the corpse was moved to State Hospital, Ijaye mortuary.
Giving an insight to the incident, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said that in a move to arrest the culprit of the dastardly act, the DPO and his crack detectives embarked on intelligence and forensic investigations, with their efforts yielding fruit when they received an information that the person who was last seen with the deceased had been sighted at 3HD Bar, Panseke area of Abeokuta, on Thursday, July 22, at about 11:45 pm, where he was trying to pick another commercial sex worker.
According to the PPRO, “the detectives quickly moved in there and got him arrested. On interrogation, the suspect, who was just released from prison custody early this month, confessed to the murder of the lady.”
Malomo had disclosed to the police that he picked the deceased from Panseke and took her home for sexual pleasure. After having carnal knowledge of the victim, she had demanded for the N10,000 which was their agreement, but he refused to give her because he had only N8,000 with him.
This, the suspect further said, led to a hot argument between them, which made him to give her his phone to hold, asking her to wait for him on the road while he would go to get the money for her.
But the suspect returned to the lady with a knife, with which he stabbed her deeply on her neck, resulting in instant death.
Oyeyemi said that the Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.
Warning criminals to stop testing the resolve of the command to bring such to book no matter who or where they could be, Ajogun said that the command was ready more than ever before to ensure that no law breaker would go unpunished.
