Friday, April 10, 2026: President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of Brigadier-General Oseni Omoh Braimah and other soldiers during a terrorist attack on a military base in Borno State.
In a statement released on Thursday, the President described the fallen senior officer and troops as “unforgettable heroes” who paid the ultimate price in defence of the nation.
Tinubu extended his condolences to the families of the late Brigadier-General and other personnel, noting that their sacrifice would never be forgotten.
“I extend my condolences to the families of our gallant soldiers, led by Brigadier-General Oseni Omoh Braimah, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defence of our country,” he said.
The President commended the courage of the troops, stating that they fought valiantly to repel the attackers and prevent them from overrunning communities in the area.
He added that ongoing military offensives against insurgents had significantly weakened them, describing the latest assault as a desperate counterattack.
Tinubu also urged members of the armed forces not to be discouraged by the incident, encouraging them to remain steadfast in their duty to protect the country.
He further called on Nigerians to support the military and refrain from actions or narratives that undermine the morale of troops engaged in counter-insurgency operations.
The attack, which occurred in Benisheikh, Borno State, claimed the lives of the senior officer and several soldiers, highlighting the persistent security challenges in Nigeria’s North-East region.
